The family of friends live in the institution they came to for sanctuary, but found it to be under the control of the conquerors.

Entrapped, Moona is paraded as a prize for marriage. Political games ensue nobles compete for her hand in marriage.

knowing their romance is doomed, Moona and Kaelen must decide how to survive in this dawning empire

Drawing inspiration from the African folktale, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, this series subverts the original patriarchal narrative by casting the king as a villainous predator rather than an arbiter of virtue. The folktale also inspires the lush ancient Great Zimbabwe setting.

Maiden of the New Dawn begins a four-book series in which every story, every legend, and every secret challenges the myths that uphold power, weaving foreshadowed clues readers can uncover from the very first page. Follow the characters as they meet challenges across multiple lifetimes.

This series explores themes of injustice in an engaging tale with a memorable cast of characters that can make a reader laugh and cry in moments.

Maiden of the New Dawn is just the beginning of a tale that spans across an epic series

Who I Am

(aka Why I Can Tell This Tale)

Through my career as a designer, I understand the importance of storytelling in the arts. I am a also a lifelong learner of history who has experienced religious indoctrination. The way that design and religion have been used throughout history for a means of control intrigues me. As an avid reader who is a fan of dystopian fiction such as Parable of the Sower and The Handmaid’s Tale, I’ve also what the beginning of a dystopia looks like. This manuscript is my answer.

Maiden of the New Dawn is currently being queried. If you are interested in working with my manuscript, please contact me, Alyson Toone-Aguilar.
